What Are Belt Brushes?

A belt brush is a specialized brush type designed to be mounted along or integrated into conveyor belt systems. Unlike rotating brushes, belt brushes typically operate in a static or reciprocating mode, using their bristle face to clean, seal, guide, or dissipate static charge from moving conveyor belts and the products they carry.

Applications of Belt Brushes

Belt brushes are installed on conveyor systems across industries: as belt cleaners removing carryback material from the return side of conveyor belts in mining and aggregate operations, as sealing brushes preventing dust leakage at conveyor transfer points, as product alignment guides keeping items centered on packaging and sorting conveyors, as anti-static brushes grounding accumulated charge in electronics assembly lines, and as gentle product hold-downs or diverters in food processing and logistics systems.

Why Choose Our Belt Brushes?

We custom-manufacture belt brushes to match any conveyor profile — flat belt, trough belt, cleated belt, or modular plastic belt. Available holder profiles include aluminum channel, stainless steel channel, UHMW-PE for low friction, and flexible rubber for contour mounting. We stock strip brushes in continuous lengths ready for immediate cutting and shipping, and offer same-day dispatch on common sizes. For conveyor OEMs and system integrators, we provide engineering support to design optimal brush configurations for new equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I specify the right belt brush for my conveyor?
Provide us with the conveyor belt width, belt speed, product type and weight, and the purpose of the brush (cleaning, sealing, guiding, or static control). Our application engineers will recommend the optimal filament material, density, trim length, and mounting profile.
What filament materials work best for belt cleaning applications?
Polypropylene is the most common choice for general belt cleaning due to its good abrasion resistance and low cost. Nylon offers longer life for abrasive materials. Abrasive nylon can provide light belt scuffing for improved grip. For high-temperature applications (above 90°C), polyester or Nomex filaments are recommended.
Can belt brushes be cut to length on-site?
Yes, our aluminum and PVC channel strip brushes can be cut with a hacksaw or band saw. We pre-mark cut lines at common lengths. Stainless steel channel brushes require an angle grinder or chop saw. We can also pre-cut brushes to your exact lengths before shipping.
